Who is Cameron Hanes?

Born on the second day of October 1967 in Eugene, Oregon, Cameron Hanes is the son of Robert Hanes and Kandice Hanes. He has a younger brother named Pete, and at the age of 5, his parents were separated.

Growing up in the backwoods, Hanes has always been an active wandering in the woods. But when he first ever pulled the bowstring, he then realized the important part missing in his life for a long time.

Hanes was very close to his buddy named Roy Roth, who was also a bowhunter. Even Roy Roth encouraged Hanes to do bow hunting; rifle hunting was not a challenge for him at all.

One tragic accident happened, and Hanes’ father passed away in 2011. It brought so much pain and devastation to Hanes, especially as he considered his dad as his best buddy.

To overcome his pain and sadness from the death of the two most important people in his life, Hanes has lived his life full of adventures and danger at the same time.

Besides going to the wilderness and bowhunting, Hanes also ensures to visit his weight room and then trains seven days per week. During an off-season, he runs for around 100-mile in the mountains to train both his mind and body for an upcoming test he’ll be facing in the backcountry.

Hanes believes that there should be no rest days if you have a certain goal.

For more than 30 years, Hanes’ types of workouts might have changed, but not his commitment and dedication to stay fit and healthy. Let’s take a closer look at what he does below.

Whenever Hanes spends time working out, he always ensures that he gives his best shot. He is always driven and dedicated in his daily workout session. For him, consistency is always the key to exercise.

According to Hanes, “If I’m comfortable, it doesn’t feel right. I want to feel like I’ve put in some work today. Today was a perfect day for me; I got up and ran a bunch of miles, had a big day at work, lifted some weights, shot a few arrows.”

Running on the top of Mt. Pisgah is his every morning routine. An amazing feat, if you ask me.

It is a 531-foot mountain that is located nearby his home. Once he has finished running, he goes straight to the gym and then begins working out using lifts.

“I just do it” , he says. “It’s not even up for discussion. I don’t have to decide what I’m going to do that day, because I already know I’m going to do it. It’s just part of my routine.”

Likewise, Hanes added that, through physical conditioning, he can always prepare his mind and body not just only for hunting days but also for other challenges he may face along the way.

For Hanes, there is no shortcut leading to success. It would be best to exert a lot of effort and commitment to accomplish what you really want. He believes you don’t need to be born tough to be such a tough individual.

Aspiring to be like him, you have to discover your inner self and what you really want to enjoy and love doing. As he says, “To know what success is, you have to fail.”
